AOP’s New Wrestling Promotion Has Sold Ridiculously Low Amount Of Tickets Ahead Of Debut In 10,000 Seat Arena

Around three months ago, it was revealed the Authors of Pain were getting into promoting wrestling shows. Later it would be announced their promotion would be known as Wrestling Entertainment Series, with their first show set for the 10,000-seater Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham, England. Many would be skeptical at precisely how successful their event would be, considering WWE doesn’t always sell out the same venue.

Their initial show ended up postponed due to clashing with the Queen’s Jubilee, which is likely the only time the Queen was responsible for a wrestling show postponement. Now just days before the show is set to finally take place, it has been divulged by a journalist for the Daily Star that less than 350 tickets have been sold. Which, if accurate, could only be described as a disaster as it’s unlikely it would even cover the costs of hiring the venue. Let alone flying in wrestlers from the US, putting them up in hotels, and paying them to wrestle.

The card has significantly changed from when it was first announced, with many of the ex-WWE talents advertised, such as Braun Stowman, Chelsea Green, and Fandango, no longer appearing. Also among the wrestlers no longer competing is Nia Jax, who has publicly called out the promotion on Twitter for using her photo on the event’s poster despite having told them she wasn’t available for the rescheduled date. Additionally, Aiden English, who was set to do commentary for the FITE broadcast, has claimed he has been ghosted by everyone involved and gone as far as to advise fans to be wary about buying tickets.

Whether the show goes ahead remains to be seen, but as of writing, it’s on. Still, given the number of tickets sold, it seems that many fans, even with numerous former WWE talents, aren’t interested unless WWE is on the marquee. However, there could still be many fans who decide to buy on the day or stream on FITE, and that will be what AOP will be hoping for.
