On Friday night, news broke that WWE was releasing talents, and names would continue to be confirmed well into Saturday. Yet, while it was believed all the talents let go had been disclosed to the public, on Sunday morning, eagle-eyed fans noticed Elektra Lopez had been moved to the alumni section of WWE’s website. And now, PWInsider.com has reported that she was also released.
Lopez, real name Karissa Rivera, is a second-generation wrestler as her father, José Rivera, competed for WWE under the name Steve King between 1976 and 1985, working against names like Sgt. Slaughter and Jesse Ventura. Therefore, after being a lifelong fan, Lopez began to wrestle herself in 2017 and made appearances for ROH and Impact Wrestling.
However her pro wrestling career really took off when she signed with WWE in 2019 and was put in the Legado Del Fantasma group in NXT. Yet once the other members were called up to the main roster, she was unexpectedly replaced by Zelina Vega as the stable’s manager. Still, after two years, she eventually rejoined the faction, having gained more experience as a single performer in NXT.
