Andrade Publicly Addresses His WWE Release Request

Last week news broke that Andrade had officially requested his WWE release. Later on, it was confirmed that his request had been denied, which is WWE’s right, and likely due to concern, he would go to AEW, potentially alongside Zelina Vega. Now the former NXT Champion has publicly acknowledged his release request on Twitter, thanking fans for their support and saying he wants to make his dreams come true.

The rumors are true and I don’t know what the future holds but I want to make my dreams come true. thank you for giving me so much support these last days Los rumores son ciertos y no se lo que me prepara el futuro, pero quiero hacer realidad mis sueños. Gracias por tanto apoyoAndrade

Andrade was a Paul Heyman project in WWE, and once Heyman lost his creative role with the company, his standing fell due to Vince McMahon not seeing much in him. If Andrade does eventually join AEW, he would be able to compete as Andrade as it’s his real name. Alternatively, he has the trademarks for “El Idolo” and “La Sombra,” his ring name, before joining WWE.

While several unhappy talents have requested their WWE releases over the years, Andrade’s situation is particularly fascinating because he is engaged to Charlotte Flair. Given her status, you’d think WWE would be doing everything possible to keep her happy and Andrade by association, even if that means granting him his release.
