Andrade El Idolo Clarifies His Injury Status Following Tony Khan Tweet

Andrade El Idolo last wrestled at AEW’s 22nd June television tapings, with his match against Rey Fenix airing two days later on Rampage. Yet, it turns out his absence from the ring since then hasn’t simply been down to AEW’s massive roster but the fact that he has been dealing with an injury. Tony Khan would alert fans to this via a tweet before this week’s Rampage aired, which left fans worrying about the former WWE star. Thankfully though, Andrade has since clarified that the injury isn’t severe, and he is dealing with inflammation of his ankle, which he puts down to years in the ring rather than a specific incident or match.

Nothing serious. I have inflammation in my ankle, it is because I have been in the business for almost 20 years!!! 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼Andrade El Idolo

Andrade has been with AEW for just over a year and has yet to become the star so many believe he can be, with some fans critical of the fact he is regularly booked on AEW Dark: Elevation. Things, though, could have been very different in recent months, with Khan intending to feature him in a prominent match on Forbidden Door against Will Ospreay, with Andrade even set to travel to Japan to kick off an angle. Unfortunately, for Andrade and his fans, issues between CMLL and AAA prevented this, with the Mexican talent who work for AAA not being permitted to perform on the show due to CMLL’s relationship with New Japan.
