Aleister Black hasn’t wrestled since his intense Ambulance Match loss to Damian Priest on the January 2, 2026, episode of SmackDown. And while it was known he would be taking some time, Dave Meltzer has reported that he actually suffered a broken tailbone in the bout. How long he will be sidelined remains unclear, but, as it was described as “minor,” hopefully it won’t be longer than his planned absence.
40-year-old Black, real name Tom Budgen, debuted in 2002 as Tommy End on the European indie scene. Becoming known for his martial arts style and sinister appearance, he won titles in wXw, PROGRESS, ICW, and PWG, leading him to WWE in 2016. Pushed as a star in NXT, a main roster run followed, which was surprisingly ended by his release in 2021. Still, he was signed by AEW almost immediately, where he subsequently led the House of Black to Trios gold, before returning to WWE in 2025 to work alongside his wife, Zelina Vega.
