Following the inductions of Rhino and Bob Ryder in the TNA Hall of Fame over the weekend, it was reported that the promotion had also inquired about possibly inducting AJ Styles, but WWE had turned this down. And now confirming that talks did take place, Styles has taken to X to clarify that it was actually him, and not WWE, that declined, noting he doesn’t want to go into a Hall of Fame while still active.
“I made the decision not to go into the TNA HOF, not WWE. I appreciate TNA, but I don’t want to go into any HOF as long as I’m still active. My choice.”
AJ Styles47-year-old Styles worked for TNA for 12 years and is considered by many to be their biggest homegrown star ever. Yet, due to the promotion struggling financially in 2014, he would depart after being asked to take a 60% pay cut. Therefore, many thought this could be the end of his career in mainstream American wrestling. Still, following a very successful run in New Japan, he would go on to join WWE, taking his career to the next level and establishing him as one of the best wrestlers of his generation.
