Dynamite Defeats NXT In Tuesday Night’s Ratings Battle

Tuesday night saw AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT go head-to-head. And while AEW dominated when the shows competed on Wednesday nights, some felt with Tuesday night currently being NXT’s home, they had the advantage. Yet, while that may have been the case, it didn’t show in the ratings, with Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics reporting that Dynamite won the night with an average of 752,000 viewers and a 0.26 in the 18 to 49 key demo, compared to NXT’s average of 676,000 viewers and 0.13.

Ultimately this will come as a blow to WWE, as while Triple H recently tried to claim that NXT was simply WWE’s developmental program, when AEW first launched, he would say NXT was a fully-fledged third brand. And when you consider NXT featured main roster talents like Kevin Owens, Austin Theory, Rhea Ripley, The OC, and Shinsuke Nakamura, they shouldn’t have lost by over 75,000 viewers. However, AEW was clearly up for the fight and booked an incredibly strong show featuring multiple title matches, which included ROH Champion Chris Jericho vs. Dalton Castle and a main event of Jon Moxley defending the AEW World Championship against Adam Page.
