Since making her AEW debut British wrestler Mariah May has been making waves for the promotion, thanks to her association and then feud with Toni Storm. Yet, there has been recent speculation that the blonde bombshell, who is a former AEW Women’s World Champion is seriously considering a jump to WWE when her contract expires later this year.
And while this news has disappointed AEW fans, May has yet to publicly comment. However she has seemingly acknowledged the rumor having taken to X to reshare a photo of her with her PWI Most Improved Wrestler of the Year award and AEW Women’s World Championship belt. Whether this indicates she wants to show her commitment to AEW is unclear, although the timing is interesting.
26-year-old May began her pro wrestling career as a ring announcer in 2018 and started in-ring training shortly afterward, working independent shows in her hometown of London. Subsequently, she went on to catch the eye of WWE scouts, who had her tryout for NXT UK. Unfortunately, for May, nothing more came of that, although after continuing to work in the UK, in 2022, she became a regular for Japan’s Stardom promotion, which led her to being seen by Tony Khan.
