AEW Edits Controversial Line Out Of Rampage’s Broadcast

Ric Flair is no stranger to controversy, and earlier this week, he was on the receiving end of social media outrage after those in attendance at Wednesday’s AEW Rampage taping revealed that during a promo, he had invited women aged between 18 and 28 to come to his hotel room. This was what Ric Flair’s fans have come to expect over the years, but with times having changed, some were offended, especially considering the allegations made against the 16-time world champion on Dark Side of the Ring.

Subsequently, Flair would take to social media and suggested that he walk away from AEW if he was causing the promotion any embarrassment. And while it is doubtful Tony Khan will take him up on his offer, it was noticed by those who watched Rampage air on Friday night that Flair’s line was edited out. Which, given the backlash online, is understandable.

74-year-old Flair is undeniably one of the greatest pro wrestlers of all time and has twice been honored by WWE by being inducted into their hall of fame. First, he was inducted into the class of 2008 for his individual career and then again in the class of 2012 as a member of The Four Horsemen. Nevertheless, his extrovert personality has turned off some fans in recent years to the point that it was deemed a risky signing by AEW when he was hired earlier this year to be part of Sting’s retirement.
