AEW Announces Chris Jericho Has Signed New Contract With Added Responsibilities

Ring of Honor Champion Chris Jericho is one of AEW’s top stars, with his Jericho Appreciation Society being a prominent part of ongoing storylines. And now it’s been confirmed via a press release that Tony Khan has secured the services of the eight-time world champion for an additional two years. It wasn’t divulged whether Jericho received a pay rise, however, as it was noted he’ll be serving as both a producer and creative advisor, it certainly seems likely. Plus, considering the futures of The Elite and CM Punk are currently unsure, this was a necessary signing for Khan, with Jericho’s previous contract expiring at the end of 2023 and WWE almost certain to make a play for him.

Tony Khan announced that Chris Jericho, the Ring of Honor World Champion and leader of the Jericho Appreciation Society, has signed a contract extension through December 2025, keeping sports entertainment alive and well in AEW for the foreseeable future. Jericho will also increase his responsibilities within AEW, serving as a producer and creative advisor in addition to continuing as a mentor to young talent.

Jericho was one of the first signings Khan made when he decided to launch AEW, and while other free agents like CM Punk would choose to wait for the company to be established, Jericho took the bold move of walking away from WWE to help kickstart their rivals. And while he hasn’t been the focal point of the promotion for the entirety of his run, he did carry the company in its first year and subsequently been in meaningful programs helping to elevate Orange Cassidy, Eddie Kingston, and most famously, MJF.
