Once news broke that AEW had made the decision to release CM Punk, many people began to wonder what this meant for the future of Punk’s longtime friend, Ace Steel. And while it seemed inevitable he would be following Punk out the door, it’s now been reported by Sean Ross Sapp that he actually has another year on his unique consultancy contract, which, therefore, should guarantee him an income from AEW.
While being an accomplished pro wrestler himself, Steel is best known for his relationship with Punk and made headlines for his part in Brawl Out when he flung a chair at The Young Bucks and bit Kenny Omega. At the time, he was fired from his backstage producer role for his unprofessional behavior. However, he was later brought back when Tony Khan was trying to smooth things over with Punk, and apparently even received back pay for the time he was away.
