Ace Steel Released By All Elite Wrestling

Ace Steel was previously an influential part of the AEW backstage team, where he worked as a producer. Still, the company had no option but to fire him due to his role in the backstage altercation between The Elite and CM Punk at last year’s All Out. However, thanks to his friendship with the former WWE star, he was quietly rehired four months ago and even given back pay to work remotely.

Now, though, it has been reported by PWInsider.com that despite him still having a year remaining on his current AEW contract, he has been released by the company following last weekend’s firing of Punk.

“Following the termination of CM Punk this past weekend, PWInsider.com has learned that Chris Guy aka Ace Steel was released by AEW earlier today.”

Steel began wrestling in 1991, and while an excellent in-ring worker he never received an opportunity to make a name for himself in a major promotion. At his peak, he worked for WWE as an enhancement talent in the mid-2000s and infamously portrayed Donald Trump in a terrible comedy match on Raw against Kiley McLean, who played Rosie O’Donnell. Nevertheless, he is known for being instrumental in training Punk and Colt Cabana, which will ultimately be his wrestling legacy.
